Masquerade

Dear Loyal Readers,

I mentioned in a post that I recently saw Phantom of the Opera again. My other favorite song from the show is Masquerade. One of the lines is “…paper faces on parade, masquerade, hide your face so the world will never find you.” The song perfectly describes how I’ve lived my life for so long.

Sharing my story, putting my life out into cyberspace to educate and entertain, was freeing and exciting. It gave me new purpose and hope. Hope is so hard to find.

I haven’t written recently because there are topics that need to be discussed and explain that I’m not sure I want my kid to read, even though she lives it. Turns out there is a chance that much of what I’ve written, could come back to haunt and hurt my family and me.

I’m highly considering shutting the   blog down and putting my mask back on. Maybe it’s best if the world never finds me.

Before I do anything just plain crazy, I plan to do much thinking and researching. However, I welcome your thoughts and comments. Please take the time to share them with me.

    1. Jesus! As an English teacher, I know you are cringing over the poor grammar in my previous message/reply. Oh well, maybe it was written over a glass of wine, or not! Anyway, your posts are very enlightening!

  4. Hi Jen,
I enjoy reading your blog. You should continue to write, as it is freeing and exciting for you. Do what you love! I believe as years past your daughter will read the blog and enjoy it. She will look at you with admiration and she can see what bravery you show. Putting yourself out there helps others realize they are not alone. Mental illness does not define you! Your strength and courage does! You are funny, creative, you cook delicious, you are very smart and a great friend! I say 100% continue your blog. I will read it every single time. 😚
    Sincerely,
    Maddy

  5. Nope. Don’t stop writing. And don’t take down this blog page. I’m guessing you had to pay for a full year anyway….

You can take a break whenever you feel it’s necessary. I took a year off from writing and still haven’t returned regularly.

I love what you write. It’s you. I literally hear your voice when I read your posts. If you ever need a critical eye before you publish, you know I’m happy to help.

But don’t stop writing, my friend.

Hi Jen My selfish opinion is that I will truly miss reading your insights and the glimpse you give us into living with bipolar. I completely understand why you would want to protect your family, especially Anna form some of the darker aspects of it. You have my full support whichever decision you choose.  I hope you are doing well, can’t wait to hang out again. Sincerely, Trish

  7. You have to do what you think is right. However, don’t ever stop writing. Save your writings and if you feel it’s right, publish a book some day.
